Must be committed and self- motivated
Assist in schooling of green horses
Prior experience in this area a must!

Volunteer Info/Schedules

Volunteer Orientation on Tuesday Sept. 4 at 6PM, rain or shine, at 6:00PM at the Wilks’ farm. New and returning volunteers, please plan to attend, as we will be reviewing policies and procedures. All volunteers need to complete forms each year; download Volunteer Info Sheet and Video, Film and Photography forms from Documents Section, or complete these forms during our Orientation.

Volunteers should contact Volunteer Coordinator Conni Conklin at (616) 837-6112 or (616) 892-2175 to work out scheduling for our spring classes that begin April 9. There will be several one-time equine experiences where one-day volunteer assistance will be needed. We also need assistance for clean-up days (both horse and equipment) and fundraising events.

•  “Speed and Pleasure” Clinic - event planners, hospitality, ticket and food sales, setup, cleanup, booth attendants, grooms

•  “Stress Reliever” Horse Show - event planners, pre-event class sponsorship sales, show office help, setup, cleanup, grooms

•  “Ride-A-Thon/CampOut” - event planners, pre-event sponsorship sales and product donations, setup, cleanup, food prep/servers, office assistance

•  "Farm Frolic" - event planners, hospitality, food prep/servers, setup, cleanup, office assistance/scribes, booth and game attendants, grooms

•  “Invitational Horse Show” - event planners, hospitality, food prep/servers, setup, cleanup, office assistance/scribes, booth and game attendants, grooms

Earn Your Lesson Fees by becoming a Working Student this year. Up to 2/3 of private lesson fees may be worked off in lieu of payment, by assisting with horse care, class set-up and clean-up, and aiding with individual students. DO YOU HAVE SKILLS?
Of course you do, and THWM needs your help. Our facility is run by volunteers just like you, who need assistance in many areas such as:

  • electrician--arena lights maintenance and repair
  • electronics repairman, to make our arena system play music again
  • crafters, to create student awards, fundraiser incentive items, stable banks, thank you gifts, and stamped greeting cards and to create handmade raffle/prize items such as quilts, wall hangings, paintings, embroidery work, or ideas of your own
  • carpenters, for general building and fence repairs and additions
  • general painters, to brighten up our ground poles, jump stands, cabinets, shelves, etc.
  • landscapers, for lawn cleanup, flowerbeds, and making our setting more attractive
  • auto body repairman, to renovate and repaint the old horse trailer
  • mechanics, to rebuild tractor engines and keep equipment running
